The Bollywood megastar shares fond memories of the former South African President Nelson Mandela who passed away late yesterday evening at his home in Johannesburg
Amitabh Bachchan has had the honour of meeting the late Nobel Peace Prize honoree Nelson Mandela twice. The South African anti-apartheid hero, who was suffering from a lung infection for a long time, lost the battle yesterday. His death has not only left everyone in his country shocked, but many across the globe, including Mr Bachchan. The superstar took to Twitter and expressed his sadness. He remembered the anti-apartheid leader with: “Nelson Mandela – a giant of a man; of will, belief and perseverance, passes away. But leaves behind a legacy of fight for right!!” Remembering his meetings with the great man, the 71-year-old posted, “I had the greatest honor to meet and spend time with him on two occasions! His humility his greatest asset, among countless other!”
But the Bhoothnath Returns actor was touched when his fan tweeted a picture that was taken a long time ago, showing the versatile actor standing with Mandela. He posted, “Thank you Vikas …what a moment!! Nelson Mandela’s personalised autograph and picture of our meeting!”
